Lexy Knowles
Established Tyggwhistle after a long career as a teacher and school leader in both main stream and SEMH schools.
As a parent, Lexy realised that her detailed knowledge of the KS2 – KS4 curriculum allowed her to provide opportunistic, learning experiences outside of the classroom for her own children. Putting the curriculum into the real world became a family game and, from this, developed a keen interest in more child-friendly models of education. Lexy believes that play-based learning is abandoned too early in our education system and that children can learn better, faster and more happily if they are allowed greater control over how their learning takes place.
Lexy has provided counselling support to children with social, emotional, mental health and behavioural issues and is a strong advocate for immersion in nature as a therapeutic response to modern pressures on young people.
